"Van Gogh: the Art of His Times" in Houston

Saturday, November 13, 2021

See photos below of our beautiful day!

Impressionism and Post Impressionism: The Beck Collection

A rich survey from early Impressionism through the big figures of the early 20th century, assembled by Audrey Jones Beck, granddaughter of legendary Houston businessman and philanthropist Jesse Jones. She fell in love with French Impressionism during trips to Paris in the 1930s and 40s and collected “the best she could find” of major artists and lesser-known artists of equal talent. The collection provides an eye-opening overview of the art of Van Gogh’s friends and contemporaries—the art of his times.

Distributed around a shaded walled patio between the MFA’s original building and its newest one, masterworks of late-19th and early 20th-century sculpture represent the robust sculptural activity of Van Gogh’s times.
