Enjoy the photos below of our spectacular day in Houston!
Karen and I enjoyed a wonderful day in Houston with our art traveling friends as we explored natural beauty, history, and creativity through two remarkable experiences — an early afternoon at Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens and a late afternoon at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.
Our first stop was our "old-new" favorite, Cleburne Cafeteria. For many of us, the visit brought back childhood memories of comforting food with family and friends.
At Bayou Bend, we explored the house museum's extraordinary collection of American furnishings, silver, ceramics, and paintings. Our gracious docents welcomed us warmly and enriched our visit with fascinating stories and thoughtful insights about the home, the collection, and Houston civic leader and philanthropist, Ima Hogg (1882 - 1975).
In the afternoon, we traveled to the MFA Houston for Frida Kahlo: The Making of an Icon. Once again, we were fortunate to be guided by knowledgeable and engaging docents who helped illuminate Frida Kahlo's life, artistic voice, and enduring cultural influence. The exhibition not only showcased Frida's work, but also highlighted artists inspired by her bold self-expression, resilience, and unmistakable style.
After our tour, we gathered for festive afternoon refreshments inspired by Mexico and Frida herself — margaritas, mocktails, and Mexican Wedding Cookies.
Karen and I truly enjoyed spending the day with each of you. We are continually grateful for your enthusiasm, curiosity, friendship, and love of learning. Thank you for bringing such warmth and energy to every adventure we share together.
