Neill-Cochran House Museum Study Tour # 20
September 25 - 29, 2024
See our trip pictures below!
Our recent NCHM study tour to Seattle, led by Karen, Rowena, and me, was a perfect blend of art, culture, and scenic beauty. It was a joy to share this experience with our enthusiastic group.
Our home base was the charming Alexis Royal Sonesta Hotel. We kicked off with lunch and shopping at Uwajimaya Market Food Hall in the International District, followed by a stroll through the famous Pike Place Market.
We toured historic landmarks, including St. James Cathedral, Stimson-Green Mansion, and Town Hall Seattle. We then enjoyed lunch outside on the beautiful patio at the historic Hotel Sorrento STELLA Restaurant before touring the Frye Art Museum.
On a beautiful, sunny day, we ventured to Puget Sound and enjoyed a refreshing walk along the shore at the West Point Lighthouse. We were delighted by the National Nordic Museum. We had a private lunch at Ray's Boathouse, the best crab cakes I've ever had! We ended the day with visits to the Ballard Locks Fish Ladder, and guided tour of Olympic Sculpture Park, before relaxing on a scenic Argosy harbor cruise.
.The following day, our outstanding docent gave us a spectacular tour of the Seattle Art Museum, followed by lunch at the Museum at MARKET. We then rode the Monorail to Seattle Center, where we got dramatic views of Seattle and beyond from the Space Needle, with Mount Rainier in the distance. The Chihuly Garden added another layer of beauty with its stunning glass sculptures.
Our final day in Seattle took us to the picturesque Queen Anne Hill. With clear skies, the view from Kerry Park was stunning. We had a guided tour of the Seattle Asian Art Museum, a peaceful, zen way to end our adventures. We enjoyed a beautiful farewell brunch outdoors at White Swan Public House.
It was a joy to share this experience with our group, and Karen, Rowena, and I can't wait for our next journey. Stay tuned...Detroit - Fall 2025.
