DAY 2 (Wednesday, March 1) — Santa Barbara

Casa del Herrero, Spanish Colonial Architecture Lunch in Santa Barbara Mission Santa Barbara (1786), “Queen of the Missions” Santa Barbara Museum of Art: Antiquity to Siqueiros

Free evening suggestions in Santa Barbara: Paseo Nuevo, Spanish-style State Street Stearns Wharf (1872) and a Harbor Stroll


DAY 3 (Thursday, March 2) — Coastal Scenery to Carmel

Hearst Castle: early lunch at Chief’s Galley Café Grand Rooms Tour; afternoon in Castle and grounds until closing (4 pm) Dinner in Big Sur: Nepenthe Hotel Check-in: Hotel Carme


DAY 4 (Friday, March 3) — Carmel to Monterey

Mission San Carlos Borromeo de Carmelo, state’s oldest stone building (1771) & Shrine of Father Junípero Serra Scenic drive and lunch: Pebble Beach Golf Club Monterey Museum of Art: a look at California art and artists Afternoon reception in a private home in Carmel

Free evening in Carmel (dining and wine-tasting suggestions)


DAY 5 (Saturday, March 3) — Monterey

Historic Monterey Walking Tour including tour of Robert Louis Stevenson House

Monterey Bay Aquarium (time for your own easy lunch in the Aquarium Café)

Afternoon options: Shopping and wine-tasting in Cannery Row

Free evening in Carmel


Day 6 (Sunday, March 5) — Carmel, Monterey, and Travel

Farewell brunch: Monterey Peninsula Country Club

San Carlos Cathedral

Midday flight/s from Monterey to your home city
